MONDAY, Sept. 29
Well, it was another low-key weekend. Aaron finished
painting the two front rooms, and it looks much better than before.
And THANK YOU May! (who sent me a big box of her
maternity clothes.) So far my favorite item is this pair of jeans
(pictures to come). In fact, thank you Aunt Nan and Abby too - at
this rate, I will never have to buy maternity clothes.
In other news, we found out Aaron is allergic to
kiwis this morning. Bad news for him, good news for me (I got to
finish off his breakfast fruit, and now all the kiwis in the house
are mine - bwahahaha!). I'm working on my secret $$ project today
at the library, and picking up their last audio book of "Secret
History of Bees." Hopefully they have it as advertised - otherwise,
I'm going to have to bluff my way through book group again. And
I had two Lucky
Bean sales this weekend - cha-CHING! (Unless you are the IRS,
then...um...absolutely no cha-ching.)
We have Healthy Pregnancy class
#3 tonight. Unless it's Rosh Shashannahana (sp?).
FRIDAY, Sept. 26
According to the Baby Center newsletter I just received,
we are "nearly in the home stretch." HUH?? I guess maybe
this pregnancy seems extra-short because we didn't find out we were
pregnant until three-quarters of the way through the first trimester,
and then spent the final quarter in denial.
In other news, Chris is coming over this morning
so he and Aaron
can get busy on their legal project, and I'm heading off to the
library to begin the process of selling out.
THURSDAY, Sept. 25
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!
Today I am trying to eat super-well
to make up for my not-so-stellar performance yesterday. I had a
big bowl of fiber cereal for breakfast and I'm making som tum for
lunch. It took me a long time to find a som
tum recipe that seemed close to what I used to eat in Thailand.
Hopefully, this one works.

Also, here's a picture of all my belly oils!
You can never over-oil a belly. There's Eve Macadamia Nut Oil from
Central America (my parents brought it back from Guatemala), vitamin
E oil I picked up from Trader Joe's, and Motherlove Pregnant Belly
oil that Malika sent me.
TUESDAY, Sept. 23
Last night we went to Healthy Pregnancy class. We
talked about false labor v. pre-labor for a while, then launched
right into "Stages of Life," the longest video we've watched
so far. It started out ok - all computer animation - but then halfway
through they started using live models again. Shoot! And the camera
would freeze on the most intimate possible image for like 10 minutes
while they discussed a statistic.
Next week we are being assigned a five-minute oral
report. We are supposed to research a topic that freaks us out the
most (epidurals, induced labor, fetal heart monitors, etc.) Maybe
I will pick birth videos - ha ha ha.
No prenatal yoga today. I can't believe Britt is
gone! Tomorrow I will try Jane's class.
MONDAY, Sept. 24
What is up with this terrible killer heat wave?
It must be the hottest day of the year. I stopped by Target to see
if they had any maternity shorts, but all they have now is corduroy.
Weekend highlights: It was a low-key weekend. We
went to dinner with friends on Friday; ran errands and prepped for
painting all day Saturday; then painted all day Sunday. I went to
Marin on Sunday night to avoid the fumes and hang out with my family.
Also, I enjoyed a little cable. Which of the videos from Justin
Timberlake's "Justified" is the best? "Senorita?"
"Like I Love You?" "Cry Me a River?" (I like
the song "Rock Your Body," but the video seems way too
conventional).
FRIDAY, Sept. 19
I was going to do the Friday
Five but the questions were just too lame today. Maybe next
week. In the meantime we're getting ready to paint the apartment.
THURSDAY, Sept. 18
Today was my yoga teacher, Britt's,
last day of class before she leaves on a three-month trip to Thailand
and India. Namaste, Britt.
Oh! Also I found out that Maki,
who did the flowers at our wedding (along with Emi and Anh-Minh),
is pregnant! Four months. Congratulations, Maki!
First Carola, now Maki . . . who will be next?
TUESDAY, Sept. 16
Last night was our second "Healthy Pregnancy"
class. It was good, except we had to watch two birth videos (a Canadian
one and a Brazilian one), which always makes me tense and grouchy.
I figure by the 8th or 9th week of class I will have gotten used
to these videos, though.
MONDAY, Sept. 15
Kozy Shack is on sale at Safeway! Two for $2.
As for the weekend, it was very nice. On Saturday
morning, I woke up full of energy. So Aaron and I did super-productive
housework (including taking down all the blinds and washing them
out in the backyard) until 1:00; then Dirk and Carola came over
and we all went down to Rockaway Beach for a picnic. Here's a picture.
Tonight is our second Healthy Pregnancy class. I'm
in charge of snacks.
FRIDAY, Sept. 12
Last night was our Early Pregnancy seminar.
I did not want to go because the OC was playing. But Aaron taped
it, and class turned out to be fascinating. However, there was a
segment about exercise and pregnancy. It turns out it's good to
do super-aerobic hard core activity during pregnancy, just like
any other time in your life. And I was REALLY enjoying the past
few months, just taking it easy and going to yoga without any guilt
that I should be doing something more aerobic. Now I'll have to
start feeling guilty again. Shoot!
THURSDAY, SEPT. 11
Happy Birthday, Aaron's brother Adam!
WEDNESDAY, Sept. 10
I'm becoming an outie -- just like Aaron.
TUESDAY, Sept. 9
Happy Birthday Debbie!
